What is a body measurement Chart?

A body measurement chart is a printable chart that you use to keep track of your measurements. Most people track the measurements to make sure they are making progress on their fitness journey. A useful chart will have room for a few measurements so you can compare yourself to the last time you measured.

How Often should I measure myself?

It depends on the person and situation. If you are consistently eating healthy and working out a starting point can be from every 3-6 months. If you are already fit, maintaining your measurements is a beautiful thing!

How do I measure myself?

It is important to use flexible measuring tape and to be consistent in measuring the correct part of your body. Have a friend help you if needed. Breath normally and do not suck in or push out your belly.

CHEST/BUST

Lift up your arms and wrap the tape measure around the back and to the front around the largest portion of your bust. Have the tape snug around your chest, but not tight.

WAIST/STOMACH

Wrap the measuring tape around the smallest portion of your waist. This is usually a few inches above your belly button.

HIPS

Measure the fullest part of your hips and rear. Measure a few times to make sure it is accurate.

THIGHS/UPPER LEGS

measure the thickest part of your upper leg.

ARMS/BICEP

Measure the thickest part of your arm. Have someone help you if you are unable to do it yourself.

Body Measurements versus the scale

Weight easily fluctuates, tracking your body measurements is a more accurate way to track your progress. Muscle is more dense than fat. If you gained a pound of muscle and lost a pound of fat the scale would not show this. You would be discouraged by being the same weight even though that is huge progress.

People get caught up in their weight. You can have two people that way 130 pounds, be the same height and have completely different body types!
