If you do not have colored candles you can always light a white candle and visualize your intention and desired color.

HOW DO I WRITE OVER DARK COLORS?

If you are writing over dark colors I suggest using a white gel pen. My favorite is the Sakura Gelly Roll size 10 white gel pen. Neon and metallic gel pens work too, or metallic markers.
